PRECIOUS
These images are from a series of cyanotypes portraying items belonging to my parents and grandparents. After my father died and the house had been emptied, I boxed up my parents’ remaining effects and there they have remained for the last four years. But now the time has come to be ruthless, sort through and throw away. Old photos and slides of holidays I never knew, leaflets and postcards, documents of all kinds, medical records – they all need culling.
There are a few items, however, which I can’t bring myself to get rid of – items which remind me of my childhood or special objects which conjure up my parents’ presence. They may have no monetary value but they are precious nonetheless…..
